Project Lead: Wellness & Well-being, Student Experience
Project Status: Complete
The Wellness Navigator is a tool that provides coordination of the supports on campus to promote student access and engagement with mental and physical health resources. It helps provide a simplified pathway to help inform student decision-making and guide them towards appropriate resources based on their own preferences and needs. As students have the ability to self-assess and monitor their own thriving using this tool, when they experience challenges and need access to specific supports or information, the tool provides it in real time.
For health practitioners, the Wellness Navigator will also create dashboards and show real-time data to help identify student needs, common trends and key issues. This data will inform proactive programming across campus and provide a benchmark of thriving year-over-year.
In summary...
- A working group of Western employees met with the tool developers, Greenspace, and built out the types of resources and supports that the tool will provide to support students with proactive mental and physical health resources.
- Staff, faculty and students were involved in the summer pilot to ensure tool adjustments reflect the needs of various user groups.
- The Greenspace team set up dashboards and key performance metrics that will help track real-time data about our students’ well-being, tool access, and holistic success. This will help Western identify common trends, issues and needs our students are demonstrating, and allow us to support their well-being more proactively.
- The Wellness Navigator launched in September 2023.
